Sure, it's something that happens in the real world and is therefore realistic, but setting the Digimon equivalent of a 4chan/reddit poster as your villain is just.boring it's like creating a villain whose entire life revolves around kicking puppies, and it invites no discussion or contemplation from the viewer. When people are pointlessly cruel and destructive on the internet or in games, we call them trolls and assholes, and it's a simple matter to demonstrate that they are uncontroversially, objectively a detriment to society. "Villains" like the Emperor and Yuu are uninteresting to me. It's up to you whether this makes the defeat of his plans happy or tragic. To him, the objective good of such a world far outweighs the objective good of not committing the necessary sins along the way, so that it is a greater crime not to enact this plan.
